Michael Simmons holds a Bachelor's degree in music
from The University of the Arts, and a Master's degree in Music History and Guitar
Performance from Temple University. Mr. Simmons studied with Jack Leonard and Peter Segal
and has performed in master classes with Benjamin Verdary, Sharon Isbin, Eliot Fisk,
Carlos Barbosa-Lima, and Oscar Ghiglia. He was the winner of the second annual Philadelphia
Classical Guitar Society competition and semi-finalist at the 1995 National Guitar Summer
Workshop concerto competition. In addition to solo guitar performance, Mr. Simmons also
participates actively in area ensembles and is a member of the Philadelphia Classical
Guitar Trio, the Flute and Guitar Duo of Philadelphia, and is a featured performer in the
Caribbean/Latin band Carnivale. Mr. Simmons is currently on the faculty at Harcum College.

Lizette Casals, soprano, is a graduate
of the University of the Arts and Temple University. She continues to
study with Klara Meyers. Lizette has been a winner of the Pottstown
symphony Orchestra competition, the Lalita Salazar vocal competition,
and a finalist at the Leontyne Price Mid-Atlantic. She has appeared
with Asociacion de Musicos latinoamericanos, Relache, Latin American
Guild of the Arts, American Music Theater festival, Opera Delaware,
Delaware Valley Opera Company, and the Philadelphia Classical Guitar
Society. She may also be heard as the female voice for the international
series Kindermusik. Ms. Casals also makes appearances with the
Caribbean/Latin band Carnivale! and other diverse musical ensembles.
