So, summers is almost over. Are your summer flowers all shriveled? Well you can take some comfort in knowing that
your guitar society is not. In fact we have grown about 30% in the past year. We also have finally put together that
long-promised directory. I'm sure you have found it tucked into your newsletter. Now get it out and find someone
who lives near you and give him/her a call. Make some plans to go to a concert together. Get together and play
some duets or just listen to that new David Russell CD.
We could also use some help this year. There are a lot of little jobs to do when putting together concerts, salons
and newsletters. I promise that we won't work you too hard. The more people we have to help, the smaller the
workload for us all. For instance, I have printed most of the tickets for this season's concerts, but I sure wish I had
someone to cut them up for me. If you have access to a device that will cut up an 8-1/2X11 sheet into tickets give
me a call and I'll send you some. We need people for ushers. Not for all the concerts, but if you're going to be
coming, give one of the board members a call and let us know you would not mind collecting tickets or the like.
You'll meet some nice people and be lightening the load for those who help all the time. In particular, we will be
needing a lot of help planning and presenting a new event on June 4. We are calling it a guitar festival. You will be
reading more about this exciting event in future newsletters.
Speaking of helping, I'd like to thank Jean Taraborelli for all the behind-the-scenes work she does preparing the
refreshments at the concerts. She is also the kingpin that makes our annual picnic such a success. I'm sure she
would not mind some help with these chores. I'd also like to thank Megan Forestal and Joani Garrett for their
tireless help. They are always there to lend skilled hands to do many things that never get recognized.
I hope to see you at the concerts this year. Remember that since I dont see very well, I may not know you, so tell
me your name. I promise not to put you to work that day. --- K.G.
