Solomon Silber Biography

     Solomon Silber, age 17, has studied guitar since the age of 5. His primary teacher and mentor is Alan Krantz, composer/guitarist and Director of the Guitar Department at Temple University. In the summer of 1997, Mr. Silber studied with Sharon Isbin at the Aspen Music School & Festival. During the summer of 1998, he studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy where he has won an Award of Merit from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. He has performed master classes for Paul Galbraith, Manuel Barrueco, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, David Leisner, and Eliot Fisk. Mr. Silber’s awards include 1st Prize in the junior division at the 1995 Solo Competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania and Delaware String Teachers Association and 1st Prize in the junior division at the 1998 National Solo Competition sponsored by the American String Teachers Association. Recent performances include Nocturnal by Benjamin Britten at the Aspen Music Festival and the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Temple University Youth Chamber Orchestra conducted by Luis Beava.
