       The final round will be one of many events taking place for the annual Guitar Festival on Sunday, April 13, 2008 (precise times will be posted soon)


       The Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society is proud to announce the 2008 Student Guitar
Competition for students studying in or
maintaining a permanent residence in the tri-state region (PA, NJ, DE) . The competition, with individual high school and collegiate divisions, will be held in three rounds:

1. A preliminary round with tapes/CD, application and $25 entry fee due by January 31, 2008.

2. Live semifinal round, open to the public at 1:00 PM, Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Settlement
Music School in Philadelphia.

3. A live final round during the 2008 Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society Annual Festival on
Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Settlement Music School in Philadelphia.
       Completed applications (available on www.phillyguitar.org/2008competition.html),
tapes/CDs and the $25 entrance fee (payable to the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society) must be
received no later than January 31, 2008.


Eligibility
The competition is open to students studying in or maintaining a
permanent residence in the tri-state region  (PA, NJ, DE).
 Collegiate Division                           High School Division
   Open to students currently enrolled in and                        Open to students enrolled in high school (grades 9-12)
   purusing their first undergraduate degree at                       in the tri-state region.

          The Jury will be drawn from the professional membership of the Society.   In the event a competitor is a student of a jury member, that jurist will be excused from  judging that student and the remaining jurists scores will be averaged.
